In this 5 day immersive experience, you will significantly deepen your 21st century teaching practice. You will:

Learn by Doing Stepping into your students’ shoes, you will roll up your sleeves and work on a team to research and design creative solutions for a local organization. Every day we ask our students to take risks, make mistakes, and reflect on their progress. In this experience you will be asked to do the same, developing a greater sense of empathy for what we ask of our students and leaving better prepared to support them through the messy process. From culture building to collaborative problem solving. From research method development to communication skills. You will experience what it is like to use 21st century methods to create a solution to an unsolved problem that impacts the local community.

Deepen Your Practice Based on your own experience, you will be guided through a structured reflection to identify practices that are key to developing the culture, skills, habits, and knowledge that are essential to this kind of learning process. Having experienced the learning first-hand, you will design course plans to integrate this method of teaching and learning into your classroom.

Note that is helpful to have a team of two or more from your school with whom you can co-design and/or co-teach.
